Natural Wool Insulation by Wool.Life uses specially selected fleece wool from sheep raised on the lush green fields of rural New Zealand. Natural Wool Insulation by Wool.Life does not contain any harsh chemicals or odors and is the only 100% green insulation on the market. When crimped woolen fibers are carefully combed together, they form millions of tiny air pockets which capture air. These tiny pockets are what keep sheep warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This natural adaptation works in the same manner to insulate your home.
Because of wool’s resiliency, and the fact that wool absorbs harmful VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) found in many types of glue, paints, lacquers, and finishes, wool is the perfect insulation. Wool.Life loose wool insulation is a blend of sheep’s wool and lambswool from IWTO Certified Farms in New Zealand. Because of their youth, the core of the lamb’s wool fiber has yet to fill in. This hollow core creates more airspace, providing a higher resistance to heat flow and insulation value.
Our manufacturing process combs the wool into small knops (or balls), which gives the elasticity necessary for our insulation to resist compression and packing. These small knops capture pockets of air and provide an excellent insulation and acoustic value. Our loose fill wool insulation will retain its thermal value for 50 years.
